Carbon Steel – The most widely used type of steel. It has a low carbon content (less than 1%) and is used for products like structural beams, kitchen appliances, automobiles, and pipes.
Alloy Steel – Iron is mixed with other elements: manganese, nickel, chromium, copper, silicon, and others. Alloy steels are very strong and are used in power plants, machine shops, and earthmoving equipment.
Stainless Steel – Chromium is the main alloying element. There is usually 10-25% chromium in stainless steels. Stainless steel products include kitchen sinks, industrial equipment, and hospital equipment.
Tool Steel – An extremely hard and wear-resistant type of steel used in metalworking tools.
