The National Iron & Steel Heritage Museum
Temporary Museum Closing

Coatesville, PA – March 13, 2020

To our NISHM Community,

The health and well-being of all visitors, employees and the community of the National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum is our greatest priority. As the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve and the number of cases in Pennsylvania increases, we are closely monitoring the situation and following the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Chester County Health Department.

In light of the encouragement for all citizens to practice measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, we will close the museum to visitors and public tours from March 13, 2020 to May 1, 2020. We also have canceled all events scheduled during that time period and will keep you updated with those event's rescheduled dates.

This necessary action is an effective way to disrupt widespread infection. Our staff will continue implementing preventive and responsive strategies to ensure vigilance in sanitizing frequently touched surfaces such as exhibits, tabletops, doorknobs and handrails.

April 8, 2020 Update

The museum will remain closed to visitors through May 31, 2020. All tours and special events scheduled to occur on or before May 31st. are canceled.
