The first Registration Day in America was on June 5, 1917, 7:00am to 9:00pm.  Registration for the City of Coatesville was expected to reach 5,000.  A West Chester Daily Local News article from the time reported that “Coatesville has no slackers and not the slightest intimation has been heard against the conscription.”
