Sabotage was an ever present possibility on the home front during World War I. To protect the coal supplies, the US Government dispatched Company F of the Pennsylvania Infantry to protect this important commodity. The Federal Government entered into an agreement with local resident, Laura Roberta McComsey to propare meals for Company F while they were stationed at the Coal Wharf.
